3:45 - 4:30 External Showcase (Part II): Innovative uses of technology for instructional purposes
Laura McGrath
Assistant Professor of English and English Department Tech Coordinator, Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, Georgia.

Topic: using social networking and web 2.0 tools for instructional purposes. More than a buzzword, the term Web 2.0 has been used to describe changing use practices and a realization of the vision of the read/write Web. This presentation will discuss what this means to faculty and academic technology specialists in higher education. Special attention will be paid to the core concepts of participatory learning and collective intelligence, and the speaker will provide examples of the ways in which social networking, social bookmarking, mashups, photo sharing sites, and more can be used to enhance online learning.
